How we research and score marketing tools
A plain-language look at where our reviews come from, what our scores mean, and how we keep them honest.
Marketraa is an independent directory that reviews and compares marketing and SEO tools. This page explains how that work actually gets done, so you can judge our reviews for yourself. It expands on the editorial language in our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy in everyday terms.
Named, accountable authors
Every review is produced under Marketraa's named editorial team, not an anonymous byline or an unattended script. You can see who we are on our authors page. Putting our names on the work is the point: if a review is wrong, there is a person responsible for fixing it.
How we research a tool
Each review draws on a few kinds of source, cross-checked against one another:
- The vendor's own material. We read the tool's website, pricing pages, and product documentation to establish what it claims to do and what it costs.
- Public user feedback. We read what real users say on places like G2, Capterra, and Reddit threads, to see where a tool holds up in practice and where people run into trouble.
- Hands-on use where we can get it. When a tool is accessible to us, we use it and write from that experience.
We want to be precise about what this is and is not. It is researched, cross-checked editorial coverage, sometimes including hands-on testing. It is not a claim that every one of the tools in our directory went through a paid, full lab trial, and it is not a certification. When our take on a tool leans mostly on documentation and public feedback rather than direct use, we aim to write it that way rather than dress it up as something more.
No paid placements, ever
We do not accept payment to rank, feature, or exclude any tool. There is no way to buy a higher score, a better position, or a spot we would not otherwise give. Our rankings and recommendations are editorial, full stop.
Some outbound links to the tools we cover may be affiliate links, meaning we could earn a commission if you sign up through them. That never changes how we rank or score a tool. The score is decided first, on the merits; the link type has no bearing on it.
Kept current
Every review carries a visible "Updated" date in its header, so you always know how recent our take is. Pricing and features in this space change often, so we re-check reviews periodically and update them when something material shifts, such as a new pricing tier or a removed feature.
To be clear about what that date means: it reflects the last time we reviewed and updated the page, not a live feed. A review is not recomputed the moment a vendor changes its site. If you are about to buy, treat our page as a starting point and confirm the current details on the vendor's own site.
General information, not a guarantee
Our reviews, scores, and recommendations are editorial opinion meant to help you evaluate and shortlist tools. They are not a certification, a guarantee, or an independent audit of a vendor's claims. Figures a vendor states about itself, such as customer counts, uptime, or its security posture, are not independently verified by us; we report them as the vendor's claims.
Before you purchase, confirm the current pricing, features, and terms directly with the tool's provider. What fits your situation depends on details only you know, and our page cannot stand in for that check.
A directory, not the vendor
Marketraa does not operate, sell, or resell any of the tools we review. We are an independent third party writing about them. Because we are not the provider, we cannot guarantee the outcome you will get from using any tool, and any account, billing, or support question needs to go to the vendor directly.
Corrections
If you spot something wrong, tell us. Email hello@marketraa.com and point us at the specific claim. We check it against the primary source, usually the vendor's own site or documentation, and correct anything that is genuinely wrong. We would rather be told and fix it than leave an error standing.
